The retreat was from Friday night to Sunday evening with 20 other women at the Seogwipo (south part of the island) Recreational Forest very close to Mount Halla. For only 30,000 won (about $28) I was able to learn so many types of yoga, learn belly-dancing from a Canadian-Egyptian friend, spend time getting to know a bunch of wonderful ladies from all over, had some delicious food that was all prepared by all of us, (we made Mexican burritos, Thai curry, omelets, sandwiches, etc, and most importantly….I was able to relax the entire weekend!!
Some types of the yoga that I learned:
-Walking meditation
-Chakra meditation
-Hatha yoga
-Mantra meditation
-Yoga Asana
-Restorative yoga
-Sun salutes
-and more!
-journal and creative writing
-Reflections and sharing time
It was also the first time ever that I watched a sport’s game (a Korean world cup game) with only all women….now that was an experience of its own!
During the first yoga class on Friday night, my mind was racing with thoughts on wedding plans, school projects, vacation trips, etc! However, by Sunday I was as relaxed and happy as a napping and purring cat! I felt like my mind was strong, cleared and refreshed.
Although it was raining the entire time, we slept inside these pretty cabins in the beautiful forest. There were about 8 girls, including myself in the bigger room, which also had a kitchen and bathroom/shower. Then there were about 5 girls to the smaller rooms. And then we had all of our yoga classes in a building with windows covering all sides of the walls, out in the middle of the recreational forest surrounded beautiful trees, plants and flowers. With the rain pouring down in the background, the weather made the experience even more magical and soothing. We did though get very wet each time we ran back and forth to our cabins and the yoga room. Oh well!
What a great experience!
