This sushi looks alive, but it is really just the nerves still moving. I think it's a type of leech.
The food above is from an authentic sushi restaurant we went to for our friend's b-day (Kyla, who lives a few floors above us in our apartment with her bf Mike). The sushi was great and right from the ocean so very fresh. However, it takes a lil getting used to trying some of these foods. Many of our friends here (and me and Keith) have been feeling a lil sick just adjusting to the food. There is one picture of the bowl with cooked rice and an assortment of veggies...it is similar to bibimbop...very delicious. The shrimp surpringly is usually served this way at any restaurant...whole shrimp with eyes and eggs and everything! Takes a lil bit of getting used to how to open these. The noodle dish had a lil spice in it and had lil shrimp too.
The picture above is of me and Keith at the cultural festival. We were drinking the popular Korean rice wine drink, Makoli...delicious! You can either drink it out of the bottle or they will give you small bowls to drink in (while holding it with both hands when serving or drinking). The picture above to the right, and the one with the menu and tea being poured is from me and Keith's favorite little tea place we like to go to. It is across the street from our apartment and very homey/ small and comfortable. It has so many different teas, and 2 dishes...a bibimbop and this green tea noodle with seaweed stew/soup (pic above)....it is sooooo good and hearty! Plus you get all these little side dishes, such as kimchi (the popular cabbage that is served at every meal), little shrimp, cucumbers, and other veggies.
The pizza is a place near our apt. that we go...it has green tea dough...and cheese in the crust...very good and lots of crazy toppings, like sweet potato, bulgulgi (a pork they eat here), and regular ones too. It seems a little better for you than greasy pizza you usually get back at home, but I'm sure it's still not GREAT for ya. Oh well, it's delicious and we miss western food sometimes! :)
This is a corndog (which they call hotdog) with sweet potatos on the side of it! Weird but tasted good. We ate them when we went to the Jeju United soccer game down south on jeju island....Seowipo. Mandarines (the team's mascot), and waffles were also popular to find at the game. Ooh, and we drank this sweet potato latte drink....soo good!
This was before going out during orientation when we were at Jeonju university. I don't think we were eating here, but this is the typical way of sitting on the floor on little cushioned mats. They will cook the meat on the hot plates in front of you, and serve side dishes on the side. One little side dish might be lettuce leaves and a bean paste, kimchi, and other veggies. You are supposed to put some meat, maybe some veggies (cabbage or seaweed), and maybe garlic and the paste into the leaves to make it a little lettuce wrap.

The long tables are from our ceremony dinner during orienation...they had lots of dumplings, types of sushi, fruit, meat, noodles, veggies, etc.
