This is the third year that Keith and I are teaching English overseas and traveling the world. We are still on Jeju Island, but we are teaching at an American boarding international school this year (KIS), about an hour away from our old home. I hope my blog, pictures, and videos help you learn about South Korea, the Korean people and their culture. I also hope to have this blog in order to keep in touch with the friends and family who I love and miss so much back in Chicago!

Japan!
Hi everyone! We just got back from our 1st amazing trip to Japan. Since Koreans celebrate Chuseok holiday, which is their Thanksgiving and a very important and big holiday, we were given a whole week off of school! Therefore, we took advantage by taking a trip to Japan to see the following places:
-Himeji Castle
-Okayama (it has the top 3rd most beautiful landscape garden in all of Japan)
-Hiroshima (where the atomic bomb was hit)
-Miyajima (a famous and huge Torri gate in the water)
-Kyoto (a very historical city with tons of temples, gardens, shrines and UNESCO world heritage sites, also popular for their geishas and Omhi Beef)
-Nara (a small town known for their friendly deer and also having one of the oldest wooden temples)
One day Keith ate the very expensive and delicious Omhi beef at a fancy and private Japanese steakhouse! The chef made the meal right in front of us and they claim this to be the best beef in the world. It was also eaten long ago by the Syogun, the boss at Samurai 300 years ago.
Also, one day I went to a geisha shop where I was able to get my hair, makeup and clothing done to be dressed up like a geisha! You'll have to read more on my blog to hear more details, but here are some preview photos below of our exciting trip :)
